The Ministry of Sports (MOS), led by Honourable Minister Madam Augusta James-Teima, in collaboration with the National Sports Authority (NSA), headed by Executive Director Mohamed Alphaka Conteh Esq., is fully prepared to launch the 2026 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) Football and Volleyball Competitions.
The competitions, held under the theme “From Office to the Field, Driving Peace and Productivity Through Sports,” will feature men’s football and women’s volleyball, with the aim of promoting physical fitness, healthy living, teamwork and unity among civil and public servants.

Speaking on the level of preparedness, Steven Keifala, Director of Participation and Sustainable Sports at the NSA, disclosed that more than 40 MDAs have expressed interest in participating in this year’s competitions. He said the growing interest reflects the increasing importance of the MDA Games in encouraging physical fitness, wellness and social interaction among public sector workers.
He further revealed that several high-profile institutions have already completed their registration, including the Office of the President, the Office of the Vice President and the Sierra Leone House of Parliament.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Director of the Institute of Sports and Chairperson of the Technical Committee, Madam Precious Elizabeth Edmund Amara, confirmed that comprehensive rules and regulations have been developed and shared with participating MDAs for their input.
She also disclosed that training sessions for team captains, coaches and match commissioners have been successfully conducted in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) to ensure the smooth and professional conduct of the competitions.
“Fixtures will be out next week,” Madam Amara confirmed, adding that the official opening date will be announced shortly after the completion of the registration and screening processes.
The 2026 MDAs Sports Competitions form part of the Ministry of Sports and NSA’s commitment to promoting “Sports for All” while strengthening workplace productivity through sports and physical activity. The initiative also aligns with His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio’s Human Capital Development agenda.
As preparations intensify, participating MDAs are currently engaged in rigorous technical and physical training sessions in both football and volleyball at the National Stadium Practice Field and Volleyball Courts, as they prepare for this year’s competitions.
