The National Chairman of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Jimmy Batilo Songa, on behalf of the party, paid his final respects to the late Chairman of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hon. Minkailu Mansaray, during the state laying out ceremony held at the State Hall of Parliament.
Chairman Songa joined family members, political leaders, government officials, party supporters, and other mourners to honour the memory of the late APC stalwart, whose passing has been described as a significant loss to Sierra Leone’s political landscape.
As part of the solemn ceremony, Batilo Songa laid a wreath on the casket of the late Hon. Mansaray and signed the Book of Condolence, expressing heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family, the leadership of the APC, and all those affected by the loss.
Speaking during the occasion, Chairman Songa acknowledged the contributions of the late APC Chairman to national development and democratic governance, noting that despite political differences, leaders from across the political divide must be respected for their service to the nation.
He emphasized the importance of unity, peace, and mutual respect among Sierra Leoneans, especially during moments of national mourning, adding that the death of Hon. Minkailu Mansaray is a reminder that national interest should always transcend political affiliations.
