Dr. Ibrahim Bangura Poised for Resounding Victory

Former Deputy Minister of Sports and senior member of the All People’s Congress (APC), Al-Sankoh Conteh, has expressed strong confidence that the party’s presidential hopeful, Dr. Ibrahim Bangura, is on course to secure an outright victory in Sierra Leone’s 2028 presidential election without the need for a second-round run-off.

Speaking during a recent political engagement, Conteh stated that the momentum building around Dr. Ibrahim Bangura continues to grow across the country, describing him as a leader whose message is resonating with citizens from all regions, districts, and communities. According to him, the widespread support being demonstrated by party members, young people, women, professionals, and ordinary Sierra Leoneans indicates that the APC is preparing for what he believes will be a decisive electoral victory.

Conteh maintained that the political atmosphere is steadily shifting in favour of the APC and argued that many Sierra Leoneans are eager for a new direction in governance. He asserted that Dr. Bangura possesses the leadership qualities, experience, vision, and technical expertise required to unite the nation and restore economic confidence.

According to the former Deputy Minister, Dr. Bangura has consistently presented himself as a leader focused on national development, economic recovery, youth empowerment, job creation, improved healthcare, quality education, agricultural transformation, and institutional reforms. He noted that these priorities have attracted increasing interest among citizens who are looking for practical solutions to the country’s socio-economic challenges.

Al-Sankoh Conteh further stated that the enthusiasm surrounding Dr. Bangura’s political engagements reflects a growing national movement rather than ordinary political campaigning. He claimed that wherever the APC presidential aspirant interacts with supporters, he receives overwhelming encouragement from people who believe the country is ready for change.

He also called on APC members to remain united as preparations for the 2028 elections continue. Conteh stressed that party unity, discipline, and peaceful engagement will be essential if the APC is to achieve its political objectives. He urged supporters to avoid internal divisions and instead focus on strengthening the party’s structures from the grassroots to the national level.

The former Deputy Minister emphasized that the APC’s greatest strength lies in its ability to work together despite differing opinions. He encouraged party faithful to support whoever emerges through the party’s democratic processes, insisting that collective interest should take precedence over personal ambition.

Addressing the prospects of the 2028 presidential election, Conteh confidently predicted that Dr. Ibrahim Bangura would obtain the constitutional threshold required to win outright in the first round, thereby eliminating the need for a run-off election. He argued that the level of public support currently being witnessed suggests the APC is well positioned to reclaim State House.

He further appealed to eligible voters, especially young people, to participate peacefully in the democratic process by registering, engaging constructively, and exercising their constitutional right to vote when the time comes.

Political observers, however, note that Sierra Leone’s electoral landscape remains dynamic, and the outcome of the 2028 presidential election will ultimately depend on the official nomination of candidates, campaign developments, voter turnout, and the decision of the electorate.

As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of 2028, statements such as Conteh’s are expected to fuel further debate over the APC’s prospects and the competitiveness of the country’s next presidential election.
