In a bid to consolidate and conserve protected areas across the country the newly Executive Director (ED), Mr Thomas Fayia Kamara on Monday 11 March 2024 donated food items worth over 20,000 new Leones such as rice, oil, sugar provisions and other items to stakeholders of the Outamba Kilimi National Park (OKNP) at the Lower and upper Tambaka chiefdoms in Karene district as a support to the start of the Ramadan month.

In his statement the Executive Director NPAA Mr Thomas Fayia Kamara stated that this is the beginning of many future supports to the communities.

Receiving the items, PC Kandeh Sorie Kankandoe III, said, this gesture came as a surprise to them and they are highly impressed and appreciative of this gesture form the Executive Director of NPAA. They pledge their continued support for the authority in protecting the landscape. He stated that the communities around the park have never received such a gesture over 40 years and prayed that the Executive Director should continue to seek their welfare as he is poised to protecting the biodiversity and ecosystems in a more sustainable way for the people of Sierra Leone.
