Former Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of Sierra Leone and Head of Counsel
at Betts and Berewa Chambers, Dr Aruna Bundu-Conteh has graduated with a
Doctorate Degree at the Prestigious School of Africa and Oriental Studies London University. Dr Bundu-Conteh is the second Sierra Leonean to earn a Doctoral degree from SOAS after the late legal Practitioner Joko Smart.
Dr Bundu-Conteh who graduated with a Doctorate degree in International Investment Law also earns an LLB and LLM from London University. In 2006, Dr. Aruna worked at the Criminal Department of the Home Office in London. He graduated as a Barrister at the Sierra Leone Law School in 2015. He has won many cases in the Judiciary of Sierra Leone and was Defence Counsel for the 1st Accused Sheka Kamara popularly known as Shekito in the Popular Hage Gate Scandal.
Relatives at home and abroad and legal practitioners have congratulated Mr. Aruna for his laudable academic achievements in the world’s leading law school. Dr. Aruna is an Alumnus of the Yanibana Secondary School in the Tonkolili District North East region.
In an interview with Mr. Aruna, he said he has left a blue print at the University for
his country and said I am glad to successfully follow the footsteps of one of Sierra Leone’s most decorated legal Practitioner Joko Smart of blessed memory.
