President of the Sierra Leone Bar Association (SLBA), Tuma Adama Jabbi, has called on members of the legal profession to renew her mandate for a second term, citing significant achievements recorded during her first tenure and her commitment to completing key institutional projects.

Speaking in an interview ahead of the Association’s elections, Jabbi said her administration has made notable progress in strengthening the welfare of lawyers, securing scholarships and internships for members, organizing professional development workshops, and improving relations with the judiciary, the Sierra Leone Police and other key stakeholders.

Among her administration’s landmark achievements, she highlighted the acquisition of land for the construction of a permanent headquarters for the Sierra Leone Bar Association, a project she described as critical to the future of the institution.

“We have laid the foundation for a permanent home for the Bar Association and secured opportunities that are benefiting our members. What remains is to complete these projects and consolidate the gains already made,” she said.

Jabbi also disclosed that the association has secured annual financial support to enhance its operations and continue implementing programs aimed at improving the legal profession in Sierra Leone.

On the Bar Association’s role in promoting the rule of law, justice, and good governance, she said her administration has maintained constructive engagement with the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary while remaining committed to safeguarding constitutional principles.

“The Sierra Leone Bar Association has a responsibility to uphold the rule of law. We have worked collaboratively with state institutions while ensuring that constitutional standards are respected,” she stated.

As members prepare to vote, Jabbie said her record in office demonstrates her ability to lead the association and deliver results.

“My two years speak for themselves. I am asking members of the Bar to give me another mandate so that we can complete the construction of our Headquarters and continue advancing the interests of lawyers across Sierra Leone,” she appealed.

She further encouraged members to participate in the upcoming Annual General Meeting and elections, describing the event as an opportunity to strengthen unity and professionalism within the legal community.
