In a profound demonstration of solidarity and compassion, a high-level delegation of Government Cabinet Ministers, led by Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, paid a condolence visit to the National Chairman of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa, and his wife, Hon. Bernadette Wuyatta Songa.
The visit took place at the Chairman’s private residence at Hill Station, Freetown, following the passing of his father, the late Alhaji Mohamed K. Songa. Speaking on behalf of the government, Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh expressed deepest sympathies to the Songa family. He reaffirmed the government’s unwavering support for the Chairman during this period of grief and beyond. Recalling the recent mourning ceremony in Bo City, the Chief Minister noted that the administration had pledged its full backing to the bereaved family, and today’s visit served as a fulfillment of that commitment. He offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the late Alhaji Mohamed K. Songa and shared words of courage to comfort the family.
In response, Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa expressed profound gratitude to the delegation for their thoughtful visit. He commended the Chief Minister for his exemplary leadership and steadfast support throughout this difficult time. The Chairman also extended his heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio, noting that the overwhelming support received from the government, the party, and Sierra Leoneans nationwide has been a source of immense strength.
Emphasizing the future of the nation and the party, Chairman Batilo Songa urged the Chief Minister to sustain the momentum in achieving the President’s development agenda.
